FRIDAY FACTS

March 30, 2012

  • From NAR:

My.realtor.org is in beta testing.  The NAR site has had much information, but is exceptionally difficult to navigate and organize.  With this revamp, you’ll be able to customize your preferences, create a unique website and display only the items you want to see.  You can visit the beta site now.

  • From Banker and Tradesman:

Foreclosure starts in Massachusetts more than doubled in February, rising to 1394 from 694 during the same month last year.  The numbers, however, are lower than in both February 2010 and 2009.

Single family homes pending sales were up 44.2% in February for the 10th straight month of increase compared with the same period last year.  Condo pending sales were up 35.3%.

  • From the AP:

NAR reports that existing home sales fell last month to a seasonally adjusted rate of 4.59 million.  There were 4.26 million homes sold in 2011 and 4.19 million sold in 2010.  Economists consider 6 million a healthy market.  First time buyers fell slightly from 33% in January to 32% in February.  In healthy markets, first time buyers make up 40%.
